Fluid-structure interaction

For fluid handling components, the choice of boundary conditions for a structural mechanics analysis is highly complex. Flow simulations can help to identify them.

 

For this purpose, pressure and temperature values from the flow simulation are transferred to the component in the structural analysis. In complex cases, feedback can be considered. Here, the flow simulation is run again with the loaded and deformed geometry. This procedure is repeated until convergence is observed.
