From 1 May 2019 to 31 January 2020, our company implemented the “InnoSentriS – SME digital twin platform” project, which was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) under the SME Innovation Forums Subsidy Directive.

The aim of the project was to inform small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the field of plant and mechanical engineering about the concept of digital twins, and to show them the potential digital twins hold for their business models. The main advantages of using digital twins include e.g. reduced development costs in general and improved predictive maintenance, which in turn reduces maintenance costs.

During the 9-month funding phase, our company participated in conferences and workshops nationwide on the subject of digital twins, conducting a strategy meeting in Dortmund with over 60 participants and a final conference with about 100 participants. Participants received information through presentations, and companies had the opportunity to network through various workshops. In the context of an innovation trade fair, companies from the fields of sensor systems, cloud/edge computing, big data/simulation and augmented/virtual reality presented their individual contributions to digital twin systems.

For further information on the innovation forum “InnoSentriS innovation forum – SME digital twins platform” and the events, or on the other activities of the network that continue beyond the funding phase, please visit our network page at itb-digitalerzwilling.de or contact us directly.

We would like to thank the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for funding this project, and also the project sponsor DLR for its support with the implementation.
